In this class we experimented with the replacement method we used the score to make sure our movements complimentary to each other but also so they contrasted each other at appropriate times. One difficulty we found by using this choreographic method was that it became fond of pushing us into pairs. This was not what we wanted throughout but worked nicely when one person would initiate the other person to perform their next move. Although this took a lot of time to work out what everybody was doing the effort paid off as it made the choreography flow and by breaking the group up into different groups kept it interesting.
It was also relevant to our theme as it looks like the individuals are fighting over control through who will lead next and who is going join forces with who.
This is us using the method on choreography randomly made out of chance, we liked the way the grouped moved as one but we didn't like the material chance had given us. So we repeated the process again, but adapted the chance procedure so it was more relevant to our theme and came up with this:
We now liked the movement material and it worked well with this method. However we were told to be careful not to make it look busy so we adjusted a few contrasting parts in the choreography to make it easier to focus on what was being performed.
