Neon Dance

                                                                     Neon Dance –Empathy

My impression was that it contained good ideas that needed to be further explored. An example of this is the laser I found myself contemplating whether the laser was harmful to the performers in terms of the narrative, as sometimes they would perform a movement response when in contact but this was not consistent. However I felt that the performers coped with the lasers well, as they had to focus on spatial awareness as the dimensions of the space were changing.

The performers were wearing masks impairing their vision and ability to be aware of the laser. They handled this well and it did not affect the performance level. The dynamics switched quickly, I could see the performers had no problem adjusting so it was clear it was well rehearsed. The prop at the beginning confused me and I felt that it should have been explained, as I was unable to make a connection with the performer. Despite this I could see that the performer was working along the side the prop with ease not putting too much weight forward that would damage the prop. Personally I would change the relationship between the performer and laser.
